Muslim Quarter (回民街)
5 PM - midnight+The undisputed king of Xi'an night food. Sajinqiao and Dapiyuan streets come alive after 7 PM. Lamb skewers, biangbiang noodles, persimmon cakes, sour plum juice.
Tip: Go hungry. Don't eat at the first stall — walk 200m deeper for better prices and more authentic food.
Yongxing Fang (永兴坊)
10 AM - 10 PMLess touristy alternative to Muslim Quarter. Focuses on Shaanxi regional specialties from different cities. Watch chefs make youmo, roujiamo, and liangpi from scratch.
Tip: Get a rechargeable card at the entrance — all vendors use it. Refund unused balance at exit.
East New Street Night Market
7 PM - midnightLocal favorite. Cheap street food, clothes, phone accessories. Less touristy, more authentic. Great for people-watching.
Tip: This is where real Xi'an residents eat. Prices are 30-50% cheaper than Muslim Quarter.

China's most famous outdoor stage show. 700 performers, Mount Li as backdrop, fire and water effects. Tells the love story of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei. Book weeks ahead — it sells out.

Traditional Tang Dynasty court music and dance. Performers in authentic costumes. Includes a Tang-style banquet dinner option. Touristy but genuinely impressive.
City Wall Night Cycling

Cycling the City Wall at night is magical. Red lanterns illuminate the 14km loop. The old city glows inside, modern towers rise outside. The best evening activity in Xi'an.

Night Safety Tips
- Xi'an is very safe at night. Violent crime is extremely rare.
- The metro runs until 11 PM (11:30 PM on Fridays/Saturdays). After that, use Didi (ride-hailing).
- Watch for pickpockets in the Muslim Quarter after dark — keep valuables in front pockets.
- Taxis from bars at 2 AM may overcharge. Use Didi for fixed prices.
- The City Wall closes at 10 PM (8 PM in winter). Plan your cycling accordingly.

Rooftop Bars — Best for Couples & Groups
Xi'an's rooftop bar scene has grown since 2022. The best are inside the City Wall near South Gate, with views of the lit-up wall and Bell Tower. Expect cocktails at $9-$13. Dress code is smart casual. Reservations recommended on weekends.
Live Music Venues — Best for Music Lovers
Xi'an has a thriving indie music scene around the university district. Small venues host folk, rock, and traditional Chinese fusion. Cover charges $4-$12. Shows typically start at 9 PM.
Night Markets — Best for Solo Travelers & Budget
The Muslim Quarter after 7 PM is the classic. Dongxin Street Night Market is where locals go after 10 PM — more skewers, less chaos. Walking through a night market at full energy is unforgettable.
